NFL Week 4 by the Rainmaker

NFL Week 4 Kicks Off in London!

The NFL kicked off early this morning with the +Jacksonville Jaguars and the +Indianapolis Colts facing off across the pond in a London.  This blog is being written during the game so who would have thought that the Jags would be beating the Colts by 17 in the 4th quarter.  Maybe the Colts will make a comeback and maybe they won't but it does leave you with the million dollar question.  Are the Jaguars legit this season or is Andrew Luck just inconsistent in big games?  Being the highest paid quarterback in the NFL comes with an understanding that you need to win big games regardless of what is going on.  Let's take Tom Brady for example when he took the Patriots to the playoffs time and time again with over half of the starters who started the season on injured reserve.  That's how you get it done and I'm not sure if Andrew Luck is playing on that level yet but the future begins now.

Speaking of the +New England Patriots, it's pretty remarkable that they have not lost a home game since December 16th 2012.  The Rainmakers bold prediction today is that Rex Ryan and his +Buffalo Bills will come into New England and take the win!  You would think that this wouldn't be that big of a deal since the Patriots are on their 3rd string quarterback but as long as Bill Belichick is on your sidelines, you have a chance to win. I've got the Bills winning convincingly and being the talk of the town in Week 4.

Now for the game that had promised to be the retaliation and redemption for RGIII and his doubters will not happen.  Today the +Washington Redskins and the +Cleveland Browns match-up as Robert Griffin III had the opportunity to prove that the Redskins were incorrect in their assessment of his skills and value on the field.  In the underlying tones of the game, the Skins actually do get the first laugh as RGII is on the sidelines with an injury and won't be playing in today's contest.  This must leave the Browns with a bad taste in their mouth and I'm sure that getting a win against Washington today is very important.  I look for this to be a close contest due to Kirk Cousins consistent inconsistency and think it will come down to the final drives of the 4th quarter.

Being the Rainmaker has it's pressures and being so wrong the past few weeks is taking a toll on my confidence for sure.  I am however proud to announce that my record was 16-11-2 last week which makes me a big winner and has motivated me to write this last minute blog again here for week 4.   You can find this up to date blog by clicking this link here (CLICK ME)  Make sure you give Make It Rain Marketing a call if you have a product that you're trying to promote and just need some help from a professional at 903-420-0736.

NFL Week 3 Story by the Rainmaker

NFL Week 3 Story by the Rainmaker

The first story line comes from our Cheese Heads in Green Bay as there seems to be trouble again in paradise.  Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has tried to calm down the Packer fans by requesting they R-E-L-A-X but after last weeks loss to the Vikings in prime time, the boobirds have started flying again.  It's important to understand that Jordy Nelson will be healthy again soon and when you have Rodgers behind center, the Packers always have a chance to win.  There are an equal amount of teams in the NFL that are both 0-2 and 2-0 so he may have a point when he wants the Wisconsin to relax.

"The New England Patriots cannot be stopped regardless of who is playing or not playing as long as Bill Belichick is coaching this team.  The NFL should rename the Vince Lombardi trophy to the Bill Belichick trophy."  -The Rainmaker

The Washington Redskins have been struggling to stay consistent as Kirk Cousin is hit or miss with big plays or the game on the line.  This week, the skins are only NFL news because of the match-up between Josh Norman and Odell Beckham.  ODB was just fined $35,000 for a cheap hit last week and will be suspended for any kind of horseplay during today's game.  We think that Eli Manning will be looking for match-ups against Bashaud Breeland today and things will be pretty quite on Beckham's side of the field.

The next game comes from the state of Pennsylvania as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles should be the game of the day.  Ben Roethlisberger has been proving that he is still one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks and Antonio Brown completes this dynamic duo.  The Steelers have also identified another star during the injury to Le'Veon Bell in DeAngelo Williams.  At the ripe age of 33, he doesn't show any signs of slowing down and is still at the top of his game.  On the other side of the ball, Carson Wentz is playing out of his mind and has made this match-up way more interesting than Sam Bradford could have ever done here in Week 3.

I don't want to say too much about these Vegas picks this week because at this point it looks like you'd be filthy rich is you just didn't take my advice.  Once again, a Mack truck ran into my predictions leaving a cloud of 23 losers that hid my 9 correct picks.

4. Take Jacksonville +1 against the Ravens and under 47. (LOSS) (WIN)

NFL Regular Season week 2 with additional Vegas lines and bets.

NFL Regular Season Week 2 Story

The first highlight of Week two is the match-up between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys.  Typically these two teams play towards the end of the season with hopes of a division rivalry game that also has playoff implications.  The past few years however, the NFC East tallied up wins only when they played themselves but couldn't get an out of division "W" before week 6.  This display of mediocrity offers a NFL Wildcard Playoff birth to a 7-9 or 8-8 team while 9-7 teams aren't able to make the playoffs.  Needless to say, regardless of what the Cowboys or the Redskins look like on paper, anything can happen when these two take the field.

Josh Norman did a great job last week hiding from Antonio Brown by staying on one side of the field allowing the Steelers too easily avoid the match-up.  There can only be few NFL mega-million superstar contracts awarded to key players on a team due to the salary cap so Norman better be covering Dez Bryant this Sunday.  Another player to watch will be RB Alfred Morris as he will attempt to hit another "home run" in Landover, MD but this time for the opposing team.  I think Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot will be the winning combination over a struggling Kirk Cousins and a 80% healthy Matt Jones.  The Redskins management has to be celebrating the decision to put the Franchise Tag on Cousins instead of signing him to a long term deal right now as he is living up the slogan, "one hit wonder."

Was anybody shocked at the news of RGIII fracturing his coracoid bone in week 1?  That had to be one of the most predictable injuries next to Tony Romo's back leaving both fragile Quarterbacks as the highest paid NFL cheerleaders for the next 8 weeks.  At least Cleveland Brown fans have a little bit of hope that he's escaping his nickname RGKnee however he's finding other reckless ways to let his team down.  The Browns are now starting their 26th Quarterback since 1995.  Maybe the bubble wrap isn't such a bad idea after all or it's time to hang the cleats up for both of these former competitors.

After watching all four episodes of HBO's Hard Knocks, I began to feel a gravitational pull towards the LA Rams.  Coach Jeff Fisher had be believing that he wasn't putting up with 7-9 bullshit this year and now I'm thinking that the Rams may be lucky to see 4-12.  How do you get completely shut down on your Monday Night debut against the 49ers with the world watching?  Another interesting story is the number one pick in the NFL draft, Jared Goff doesn't even have a Rams uniform on during the first game of the season.  I understand he's only 21 years of age and has a lot of learning to do but if the Rams get blown out again this week in LA, nobody is going to the games anyways.

Last week was one of the most unbelievable streaks of bad luck and was almost impossible to foresee.   Out of the 15 games that I placed my predictions on, 6 out of 11 bets actually were correct.  This would be equivalent to a broken kneecap or collarbone for such a laps in judgement.  Literally after the first games on Sunday were played, I thought maybe I wouldn't have picked a single game correct.  Luckily a few games paid off and came through so it wasn't a complete blood bath but there's always week 2 for a comeback.  See below for my Rainmaker's NFL Week 2 picks and I hope that you're able to take advantage of them.

NFL Regular Season Week 1

NFL Regular Season Week 1

It's time for a new season to begin and there are many exciting stories in the NFL today.  Last nights Super Bowl rematch of the Carolina and Denver was projected in favor of the Panthers getting some sweet revenge but it didn't play out like that.  It was surprising considering the Broncos rookie quarterback Trevor Siemian was starting for the first time and DE Von Miller  took 61 flights during the offseason totaling 71,597 miles and made 47 television appearances.  The facts are what they are and the Panthers QB Cam Newton just couldn't seem to get the job done.  A deciding factor in the Panthers first loss was highlighted by Newton who refused to watch the film of the Super Bowl and concreted his stance as a "Sore Loser."  That's just my personal opinion but there's plenty of season left to turn things around.

The Saints was in the news yesterday as well as they made  Drew Brees the second highest paid QB in the NFL.  This agreement ended the holdout just before the season started making Brees 44 million dollars richer with 40 guaranteed in the next 17 months.  I'm not even sure if Andrew Luck is the best QB in the NFL although he's got the best contract or agent at this point.  (6 year, 140 million) Both of these players have set the market for the QB position and there should be some hefty deals coming soon from Brady, Rogers and a few others.  In my opinion after watching the NFL Network everyday, Drew Brees is going to have an off game from these distractions and the Raiders have received my lock of the week.

Collin Kaeprenick stands up for Black People by disrespecting the United States of America

The NFL is a role model business for equality and equal rights as the best player is on the field. This decision is based off of talent, skill and the unique God given ability that separates a player from their competition. A position or place on the field has nothing to do with your ethnicity, gender, origin or any other typical discriminating factors. Even "Superstars" who have been leading the league for years can find the bench from bad games or after suffer injuries while the next man who has been salivating for their spot is ready to take over!

NFL players bear the fruit that people dream of having and accomplishing however it doesn't come without hard work. Most players have graduated from college with scholarships which is another accomplishment that some Americans dream of achieving. The amount of gratitude towards our God and our great Country for making this NFL experience possible should be overwhelming for a player. That's the reason why I'm still scratching my head after the San Francisco 49ers QB Collin Kaepernick didn't think it was important to stand up for our National Anthem.

Football is usually considered to be soccer in other countries as they call our sport "American Football". With that being said, it's pretty disgraceful how someone could actually be living the "American Dream" of playing in the NFL and not have enough respect for our country to stand up during our National Anthem. Think about the fans in the seats of the stadium who stand up for our National Anthem or in other sports like Hockey where you stand for the other countries National Anthem also out of respect. Unfortunately Collin Kaepernick completely disregarded the fact that many people gave their life to preserve this "Anything is Possible" platform that currently has an African American President in the White House.

"If you don't want to stand up for our country and show some respect, than you deserve an ass kicking and a one way ticket to the country you think is so much better." -The Rainmaker

The NFL Network reported before the season started that Kaeprenick was going to be traded and the 49ers were shopping around for the best deal. They mentioned that he would receive a substantial amount of money for just showing up to mini-camps but it would be awkward for the rest of the team who knew he would be gone. Obviously his 13 million dollar guaranteed salary doesn't make sense for a backup player and his performance on the field has been less than stellar. Now Kaeprenick can say that he was released from the team because of his unpatriotic stance towards our racist country. How close am I to the truth?

NFL Preseason week 3

NFL PRESEASON WEEK 3

Let me start this blog by saying, (bragging:) I called the Tony Romo injury a few days before it happened.  If we were in Las Vegas gambling, I'm sure the odds on that bet would be 50/50 or worse in favor of the injury.  Tony Romo may have actually done the Dallas Cowboys a favor by revealing the inevitable fate of his Cowboy future.  This obviously allows the "Red Hot Rookie" Dak Prescott to take the reins earlier in the season due to injury then skeptics originally expected.  The mid season chuckle that we have to wait for is when Romo comes back to a 6 and 2 Cowboys team which will make him officially the highest paid cheerleader in the league.

One of the interesting games that I caught on NFL Network during their preseason coverage was the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears game.  Surely I wasn't the only person who watched the game on the TV considering the Patriots starting quarterback Tom Brady also missed the game due to a minor paper cut allegedly caused by scissors.  After seeing the damage, I personally came to the conclusion that it was self inflicted by Brady so he could miss the game.  This "in my opinion" was an attempt to send a silent middle finger to the NFL for the "deflategate" suspension that was upheld in the highest court.  I thought the highlight of that game however was Howie Long's sons Kyle Long (Chicago Bears) and Chris Long (New England Patriots) playing in the same game against each other.

While remaining on the brother theme, here's a pair of brothers that have reached some real milestones in their coaching career.  Twin sons of Buddy Ryan, Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan are now on the coaching staff payroll together for the Buffalo Bills.  Rex (who has lost some serious weight) found some early success with the New York Jets and has now landed the Head Coach position with the Buffalo Bills.  Rob Ryan however has bounced around the NFL a little more than his brother from running the defense of Cowboys to the Saints and now the Bills.  This is another story that I think will be interesting as the Bills face an 8 and 8 "Black Monday".

NFL Preseason Week 2

Preseason Week 2

With the new 2016 NFL Season underway, the 32 teams look much different than they did last season at this point.  Thanks to HBO Hard Knocks, fans have a inside look at the LA Rams (which have recently returned to L.A.) and how the number one overall NFLDraft Pick Jared Goff is fighting for a starting spot. Goff has shown signs of brilliance but still looks like he will be riding the pine behind QB Chase Reynolds.  The spotlight however has been shinning very bright on the talented RB Todd Gurley, especially with the HBO cameras capturing the behind the scenes action in Los Angles.

In other news, QB Robert Griffin III seems to be proving his worth as a starter and reminding fans that he should have been starting whenever he has been healthy.  The Washington Redskins released Griffin after naming Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy to start in front of him.  There's no question that RGIII is more talented than both of those QB's combined and I would be looking for another Cleveland Comeback story similar as the one found with Lebron James in the 2016 NBA Finals.  Please note that I'm not comparing RGIII with Lebron James in any fashion except for a professional sports player that can take Cleveland to a Championship.

Another story that has the NFC East watching is Dak Prescott in Dallas where he has lit up the scoreboard for the Cowboys in both preseason games.  Week 2, Prescott connected with Dez for 2 touchdown tosses and also ran two in making it look easy.  The question is, is there a chance to take the starting role in Dallas since Tony Romo is obviously the number one.  Considering that Tony Romo has a 68% chance of a re-injuring his back in 2016 and a 38% chance of finishing the season without missing any games, I would say that Prescott's chances are looking great!  My curiosity is leaning on first round draft pick, RB Ezekiel Elliott as he's limping into the NFL in true Cowboys fashion.

These are just a few stories that I found worth noting in this blog, stay tuned for a more detailed account of the NFL from a fans point of view.  We would like to give a special thanks to our sponsors, Lighting By Veterans and Make It Rain Marketing.
